amar

LEARN

“We don’t learn to love each other well in the easy moments. Anyone is good company at a cocktail party. But love is born when we misunderstand one another and make it right, when we cry in the kitchen, when we show up uninvited with magazines and granola bars, in an effort to say, I love you.

getting rid

Felicidad

soledades

[...]con esta soledad

inservible

vacía

se puede algunas veces

entender

el amor.

complete

“You don’t need another human being to make your life

complete, but lets be honest. Having your wounds

kissed by someone who doesn’t see them as disasters

in your soul, but cracks to put their love into is the

most calming thing in this world.”

– Emery Allen

The battle is in our thinking.

The first place we lose the battle is in our own thinking. If

you think it’s permanent then it’s permanent. If you think

you’ve reached your limits then you have. If you think you’ll

never get well then you won’t. You have to change your

thinking. You need to see everything that’s holding you

back, every obstacle, every limitation as only temporary.

— Joel Osteen

Soledades

Ellos tienen razón
esa felicidad
al menos con mayúscula
no existe
ah pero si existiera con minúscula
sería semejante a nuestra breve
presoledad

conforme
pero
qué vendrá después
de la soledad

a veces no me siento
tan solo
si imagino
mejor dicho si sé
que más allá de mi soledad
y de la tuya
otra vez estás vos
aunque sea preguntándote a solas
qué vendrá después
de la soledad.

it's ok

It’s gonna hurt. Fuck, it’s gonna hurt like hell. When you give everything you have to someone, and it’s still not enough, it’s going to rip you apart inside. Then it’ll slowly start to get better. You’ll think about things other than them. You’ll find ways to occupy your mind. Some days you’ll still wake up wanting to call them just to say good morning. You’ll still spend some days crying and listening to sad songs that remind you of them. You’ll fall asleep crying because it doesn’t feel right without them there. That’s okay. It’s okay that it hurts. But it’s okay for it to get better, too. It’s okay to let yourself heal. It’s okay to go get drunk in hopes that you’ll get them off your mind, but it’s okay to dance around your room in your underwear because you feel actually happy, too. Life isn’t going to stop. I know right now it feels like the world has stopped turning, but it hasn’t. You’ll make new friends and meet new people. Eventually, you’ll stop thinking about them altogether. And you might remember them forever. They might have a small part of you forever. But you’ll change. You’ll grow. And one day you might even wonder why you loved them, because you recognize that you didn’t deserve to be hurt like that. It’s okay to be okay.

fire

Fire can destroy or purify, strengthen or weaken, all depending on the nature of the material being burned. Pain has the same effects on the human soul, and for the same reasons.

things to think

1. Always carry $5 and a lighter with you (even if you don’t smoke).
2. Ask every person you meet how their day is going. Genuinely ask with the soul intention of learning how their day is. Ask the coffee shop employee. Ask the person next to you in line at Walmart. Ask your distant friend. Ask everyone.
3. Take many photos of yourself. Take photos of yourself when you’re happy. Take photos of yourself when you’re sad. Take photos of yourself because there are millions of trees in the world, and we all look at the same sky, but there is only one of you.
4. Stay in contact with your parents. Try not to hate them. They are the reason you have the ability to feel anything at all. Try not to hate your parents.
5. Opening your skin will not set your demons free. Open your heart. Open your mind. Open your hands.
6. Nobody knows anybody completely. That’s okay.
7. Be gentle, but be aggressive. Take a stand. Nobody hears your voice if you stay silent.
8. Respect everybody. We are all humans trying to survive. We all deserve respect.
9. Wearing black will ALWAYS make you feel better about yourself.
10. Always give tips, whether it be a couple extra dollars or a piece of mind. You never know how much you could be helping someone.
11. Change is the only thing consistent in life. Do not allow that bother you. Embrace chance and move with life, whichever direction it chooses to take you.
12. Smile often. Smile at strangers. Smile at your friends. Smile when nobody is looking and you’re alone in your bedroom. Smile when somebody is rambling to you.
13. Body image means nothing. Your body is merely just a seatbelt in the car. Your body is here to protect you. You choose the direction you go, and your body will not hold you back. Only you can hold yourself back.
14. Don’t hold grudges. Don’t allow yourself to hate anybody. Forgive them. Learn to love them for the person you never got to see them to be. Believe that a beautiful human exists in that person. Wish them well.
15. Drink orange juice. Lot’s of it.
16. Don’t allow the opinions of others to choose your destiny. We are all simply trying to live our own life.
17. Sing all the time. Sing off key. Sing in a silly voice. Sing like you’re on stage. Sing no matter who is around. Singing is breathing for the soul. Sing.
18. Take time to think. Write your feelings down. Write letters to the people you love. Texting is overrated and not as heartfelt as a nice handwritten letter.
19. Live for yourself. Breathe for yourself. Do everything in your life for nobody but you. This is your life. This is it.

SOLEDAD

Uno siempre está solo
pero
a veces
está más solo.

One is always alone
but
sometimes
even more alone

© Idea vilariño

Ya no será

Ya no será
ya no
no viviré contigo
no criaré a tu hijo
no coseré tu ropa
vivir juntos
querernos
esperarnos
estar.
Ya no soy más que yo
para siempre y tú
ya
no serás para mí
más que tú. Ya no estás
en un día futuro
no sabré dónde vives
con quién
ni si te acuerdas.
No me abrazarás nunca
como esa noche
nunca.
No volveré a tocarte.

No te veré morir.

Amor descartable

aunque sea muy tarde,
tantos odios para curar,
tanto amor descartable.

Escucharte a mi lado hablar
aunque estemos distantes,
es el mundo tan poco sensual
que no puedo aliviarme.

Vos sos mi obsesión,
quisiera atraparte.
Vos sos mi destrucción,
no puedo dejar de pensar.

Tengo que ordenar
esta confusión,
quero estar libre
para un nuevo amor.

21 things my father never told me

  1. You are stronger than you realise.
  2. You are crueller than you realise.
  3. The smallest words will break your heart.
  4. You will change. You’re not the same person you were three years ago. You’re not even the same person you were three minutes ago and that’s okay. Especially if you don’t like the person you were three minutes ago.
  5. People come and go. Some are cigarette breaks, others are forest fires.
  6. You won’t like your name until you hear someone say it in their sleep.
  7. You’ll forget your email password but ten years from now you’ll still remember the number of steps up to his flat.
  8. You don’t have to open the curtains if you don’t want to.
  9. Never stop yourself texting someone. If you love them at 4 a.m., tell them. If you still love them at 9.30 a.m., tell them again.
  10. Make sure you have a safe place. Whether it’s the kitchen floor or the Travel section of a bookshop, just make sure you have a safe place.
  11. You will be scared of all kinds of things, of spiders and clowns and eating alone, but your biggest fear will be that people will see you the way you see yourself.
  12. Sometimes, looking at someone will be like looking into the sun. Sometimes someone will look at you like you are the sun. Wait for it.
  13. You will learn how to sleep alone, how to avoid the cold corners but still fill a bed.
  14. Always be friends with the broken people. They know how to survive.
  15. You can love someone and hate them, all at once. You can miss them so much you ache but still ignore your phone when they call.
  16. You are good at something, whether it’s making someone laugh or remembering their birthday. Don’t ever let anyone tell you that these things don’t matter.
  17. You will always be hungry for love. Always. Even when someone is asleep next to you you’ll envy the pillow touching their cheek and the sheet hiding their skin.
  18. Loneliness is nothing to do with how many people are around you but how many of them understand you.
  19. People say I love you all the time. Even when they say, ‘Why didn’t you call me back?’ or ‘He’s an asshole.’ Make sure you’re listening.
  20. You will be okay.
  21. You will be okay.
